The pursuit of the American Dream should only be for those who are in our country legally, and came here legally.
A "pathway to citizenship" will not only reward those who broke the law and showed contempt for this country's sovereignty by trespassing our borders, but also encourage others to do the same.
Illegal aliens account for $10 billion in the country's health care costs.
The burden illegal aliens place on the American taxpayer are huge nation wide. In Virginia:
"A new study from a nonprofit group that wants tighter border security and immigration controls finds the costs of providing certain services to those in Virginia illegally is about $625 per household." "That number represents the costs per household after deducting for money illegal workers give to the state by way of tax revenues, the Federation for American Immigration Reform states in its report, “The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Virginians.” The solution is not "amnesty" or rewarding those who showed contempt for our sovereignty and border with a "pathway to citizenship". That will only encourage more of the same. Instead, Congress should adapt the model worked up by immigration specialist Mark Krikorian. Win by "attrition and enforcement." Nothing will work overnight. But the most important matter is that the border be secured. No more illegal entrys. Then over time with rigid enforcement, the battle to secure the border and diminish the illegal alien presence will succeed.
La Raza held it's convention in guess who's hometown this week?:
"At this week's annual convention in Chicago of one of the country's largest Hispanic advocacy organizations--the National Council of La Raza--attendees got tips on how to lobby lawmakers.
The bill to bring back the "Dream Act" , HR 1751, was reintroduced in the U.S. House this past March. Last action it was refered to the House Subcommittee on Higher Education back in May.
Call, write your representative.

To Alex,-you are wrong, and the statements you make totally miss the mark:
You say, "You are just a cruel, heartless person who cannot feel for the poor children who come to the United States to pursue a good education. Those students excel and they have a dream to have a better education"
Wanting a good education or job are not valid reasons for breaking the law and showing contempt this country's borders. Those who are willing to break those laws, will and have broken other laws.
There are many who have desired education or a certain job in this country, and they did the right thing. They went about it legally. And when they had finished with their education they left the U.S. and returned to their country of origin to use that education they obtained legally without breaking our laws, to make their own country a better place.
As far as immigration and citizenship is concerned, there is only one valid reason for immigrating and desiring citizenship in this country:
And that is that one identifies with, and shares the values and beliefs of our Judeo/Christian heritage as set forth by our founding fathers, and in that regard chooses to pledge patriotic loyalty to the United States.
The fact is, the great majority of immigrants from south of the border, and elsewhere, only want to come to this country to take advantage of benefits, education, jobs and such, -while they maintain their political loyalty outside the U.S.
And that is not right or acceptable.
No to the Dream Act.

You are just a cruel, heartless person who cannot feel for the poor children who come to the United States to pursue a good education. Those students excel and they have a dream to have a better education. The immigrant students studying in the United States are working hard in high school to achieve better grades and attend an outstanding university. But the fact that they cannot receive any financial aid eliminates the chances of them actually attending the university due to the tuition costs. They cannot work, drive and most of them are stuck with outstanding grades and are just waiting for their citizenship which takes years and years. You are a lucky person to be born a citizen in the United States and you have the opportunities that the immigrants do not. This Act can allow them to achieve and be granted for their hard work. Support THE DREAM ACT!!!!
