This past August, the current Attorney General, Eric Holder, decided to launch an investigation of the CIA's methods of interrogation of suspected Islamic terrorists.
A move lauded by terrorists.
And condemed by seven former CIA directors, that Holder's actions in that regard, could actually help Al-Qaeda. Not to mention other Islamists.
Meanwhile, Janet Napolitano, head of Homeland Security, has been in Abu Dhabi in the UAE discussing "security issues" with United Arab Emirates officials.
After the Ft. Hood jihad terror attack, Napolitano made comments while in the UAE, that could basically be understood as an apology to the Muslim world,--if Americans are suspicious or angry toward Islam, because we have been attacked again.
After 9/11, then Attorney General John Ashcroft, worked hard to tear down the "communication wall" between law enforcement and intelligence agencys, so that vital info could be shared. Making it easier to assemble and connect-the-dots concerning potential terror threats against our country:
" So, with smoke still rising from the Twin Towers and other crash sites, alongside a team of people at the Justice Department I worked night and day to put a piece of legislation together that would give us the clout we needed to track down and arrest suspected terrorists."
-p.154."Never Again: Securing America and Restoring Justice ", John Ashcroft, 2006.
The result of that hard work was the USA Patriot Act:
"Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act"
"Does the Patriot Act work? You bet! Prosecutors and investgators shared information in investigating the defendants in the 'Virginia Jihad ' case. This prosecution involved members of the Dar al-Arqam Islamic Center, who trained for jihad..."-Ashcroft
All the more reason why Mosques and Islamic communities be aggressively monitored. Of course C.A.I.R., the un-indicted co-conspirator and front for the Muslim Brotherhood, won't like it. But they have been exposed to the public in "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that's Conspiring to Islamize America ".
It has been pointed out in the book "Muslim Mafia", that C.A.I.R made 72 trips to Capital Hill to lobby against the Patriot Act. Now that in itself is a testimony to the effectiveness of the Patriot Act.
An ironic side note here. When the Patriot Act was put to a vote in the U.S. Senate in 2001, only one Senator voted against it. Russ Feingold.
Ashcroft explains that Feingold voted against anything he considered to be unacceptaple government intrusion. Will Feingold vote against unacceptaple government intrusion into Health Care?
Unfortunately, we have bad guys at the helm of our country now. Will provisions of the Patriot Act be abused by Team Obama to spy on who Janet Napolitano considers a terrorist threat?
In his Office of Attorney General, Ashcroft aggressively sought to enforce the current laws on immigration. Making a decision that illegal aliens could be held without bond until deportation:
"Broad categories of foreigners who arrive in this country illegally can be detained indefinitely without consideration of their individual circumstances if immigration officials say their release would endanger national security, according to a ruling by Attorney General John Ashcroft."
Harvey Kaplan, a Boston immigration attorney noted that "US Attorney General John Ashcroft's hard-line approach means there's little possibility that illegal immigrants seeking asylum can stay."
It cames as no surprise therefore that the National Council of La Raza welcomed Alberto Gonzales to succeed Ashcroft as Attorney General.
Missing John Ashcroft.
