Ever since Sarah Palin united and galvanized support from conservative Republicans, the left has engaged in one false smear after another. And Matthew Yglesias is no exception.
In addition he also criticised the Rev. Franklin Graham for speaking the truth in regards to Islam.
When Palin voiced her strong opposition to pressure on Israel by Obama, stating that " I don't think Obama has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements [towns, cities] cannot expand", -
Yglesias responded by launching an attack on Palin that was a regurgitation of the left's "end-times" slander against Christians who are supportive of Israel. To that end he cited Jeffrey Goldberg who wrote:
" ...is this an indication that Palin buys into creepy End Times thinking, in which the ingathering of the Jews, and their mass death, presage the return of Christ? Inquiring minds want to know."
Goldberg and Yglesias need to read Erick Stackelbeck's "Slandering Christian Zionists":
"It is often said that ridiculing Christians and their beliefs is the last acceptable form of bigotry. Ultra-secular critics on the left, of course, usually scoff at this notion." [ as do Yglesias and Goldberg]
"But sometimes an example of anti-Christian bile comes along that is so blatant, misleading and littered with judgemental smugness, that I find it difficult to remain silent".
Be sure to read Stackelbeck's entire article as he takes J-Street to task for it's anti-Israel, anti-Christian smears of leftist propaganda.
Yglesias then went on to cite a single sentence from a Charlote newspaper article on Palin's visit with Billy Graham as lending creedence to Goldbergs end-times slander:
"She quizzed him on the presidents he's known and wanted his take on what the Bible says about Israel, Iran and Iraq, Franklin Graham reported."
Yglesias wrote :
" I don't want to to make too big a deal about this, but given the tendency of U.S. politicians to avowedly claim religious grounding for their political beliefs I do think somewhat more scrutiny needs to be given to the issue of the extent to which evangelical figures are letting their policy views be driven by apocalyptic senarios."
[ more slander]
I'm currious as to what extent Yglesias was willing to scrutinize Obama during the pre-election as to what drives his policy views.
In addition to Yglesias's pathetic "end-times" slander attack against Palin, he also criticised the Rev. Franklin Graham for speaking the truth about Islam:
" At any rate Franklin Graham's views on the subject are clear and disturbing."-Yglesias
" In case there was any doubt left about evangelical views of Islam, Billy Graham's son, the Rev. Franklin Graham, stated that Islam "is a very evil and wicked religion..."-Yglesias
Yglesias finished up his article with yet another rendition of the "end-times" slander against what he calls "fundamentalist" Christians. Who are rather, "Biblical" Christians, as opposed to Social Gospel Marxists who embrace "Liberation Theology",-
Such as the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago that Obama called his church for twenty years.
