Daria Novak is one of four candidates seeking the Republican nomination for the Connecticut 2nd congressional district.
The primary will be held August 10th. The winner will take on liberal Democrat incumbent Joe Courtney in November.
Daria Novak is a true patriot and conservative. A post at Redstate has this:
"Daria: I came across this patriotic Tea Party Conservative woman running for Connecticutt’s 2nd district, during the heated pre-Obamacare months and days. She’s a true Reaganite advocate for peace through strength, individual liberties and free market solutions, and as the official Republican nominee, will beat liberal activist and current rep. Joe Courtney in November with our support. http://novakforcongress.com/"
A former news anchor ,Janet Peckinpaugh, is one of the other three Republicans running in the same primary and a rival candidate of Daria Novak.
Peckinpaugh describes herself as fiscally conservative and socially moderate. In other words, she is running as a "rino".
On abortion she states she is pro-choice.
How can one be pro-choice about homicide?
Abortion-it's an American holocaust!
Her response to a question as to whether she supports partial birth abortion was "...it's something I have to study a little more".
Kind of like "it's above my paygrade".
Peckinpaugh has name recognition and is well known throughout Connecticut because of her TV news anchor career. In fact, longtime residents of the Richmond, Va. area will remember Janet Peckinpaugh from her job as news anchor at channel 12 before her move to Connecticut.
Peckinpaugh also canceled out of a debate sponsored by Free Norwich, a Tea Party group.
The caption on the top right-hand side of Free Norwich's website reads-
" Eastern CT's Extremist Right-Wing Headquarters since 2007."
Janet Peckinpaugh apparently does not appreciate the sardonic humor implied by that caption:
"They have billed themselves as eastern Connecticut’s right-wing extremist headquarters," Peckinpaugh said. "To me, for a Republican candidate in the 2nd District to be affiliating themselves with a right-wing extremist organization is not looking ahead to November."
This found at Ruthfully Yours:
"NOVAK STRONGLY URGES COURTNEY TO SIGN LETTER IN SUPPORT OF ISRAEL’S RIGHT OF SELF-DEFENSE"
"Madison, CT — Daria Novak strongly urges Rep. Joe Courtney to join the majority of Congress in support of Israel’s right of self-defense. “Why hasn’t Courtney joined over 300 other Members of Congress who have signed off on the letter supporting the blockade and defense of Israel’s enforcement of it against a Turkish vessel?” Novak asked."
“We must stand strong with Israel, our ally, in its response to rocket attacks by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Its naval blockade, allowed under international law, will enhance the country’s national security while permitting humanitarian aid into Gaza. Israel is a democratic state that has a right to defend itself. The United States should support her.”
